[Back to GLL Home Page] [Previous Issue]
Greetings and welcome to another addition of the Link List. Before I get on to this month's picks, I'd like to announce that the list site has moved to a new location. You can find the Gio's Link List web site at [[http://www.giolist.com]]. I've added a new registration form on the site for new users to subscribe to the list. The curious can check out the "What's a Gio" link. That's about it for now. Have fun, keep the links coming, and thanks for reading.
Chained to my keyboard [[http://www.disobey.com/netslaves/]]
I've always wondered how many coal miners died, were maimed or otherwise incapacitated
for every ton of coal used to fuel the industrial boom of the late 1800s to
early 1900s. For every golden age there are the grunts who mine or make the
gold. In today's Internet boom you can read about them in NetSlaves. This site
is dedicated to telling the stories of the people who are behind or below the
"digerati". No, you won't be reading about the technical gurus at Netscape,
but you will find the story of "Murry the XXX" Internet porn dealer, "Cindy
the Social Worker" chat room queen, or "K the Fry Cook". For those of us who
are already shackled to the Internet, there's a fun survival guide area. Check
it out, then get back to work!
Burn your TV Guide [[http://www.tvultra.com]]
This has to be one of my favorite sites of all time. Tired of wading through
your paper's TV listings? Can't stand that "interactive" guide that comes with
your cable service? Throw them all away. Come to TV Ultra. On one page they
will tell you the time and channel of the best program on TV that evening. They
also have links to Internet sites that have content related to the show. One
page, one show, one site TV Ultra. OK, you have to trust the tastes of the authors,
but give it a shot.
Turn your back on Uncle Sam [[http://www.escapeartist.com/]]
You're rich. Filthy rich. You've max-ed out traditional tax shelters, you've
run out of loopholes and the IRS is breathing down your neck. They want a piece,
a very big piece of everything you've worked so hard for all these years. Give
to charity! Bah! Are there no poor houses! But wait! All is not lost. Enter
www.escapeartist.com the one stop Internet shop for ditching it all and moving
off shore. That's right folks. Why not skip town and plant yourself in Grenada
to take advantage of the more than favorable tax laws? If that sounds good then
start at the Escape Artist. This site is not all that sinister; they also have
good general information on jobs, house hunting and what it's like to live in
a foreign country. Check 'em out and then check out!
Low-Bandwidth Action and Thrills! [[http://www.jonninitro.com]]
Austin Powers watch out. Jonni Nitro is in town. This site follows the adventures
of Jonni Nitro spy, assassin and all around hot babe. It uses Macromedia Flash
which you can get at [[http://www.macromedia.com]].
The animation technique is very slick and it lends itself to low bandwidth connections.
It's kind of a cross between a comic book and a movie. A daring site in more
ways than one. Have fun and watch your back.
Take me out to the Ballpark [[http://www.ballparks.com]]
Have you ever been given a set of tickets for a sporting event and wondered
whether you were going to sit down near the action or whether you should bring
oxygen? Well, now you can find out. www.ballparks.com is a site dedicated to
delivering information about any kind of sporting venue, past, present and future.
So be it the diamond, arena or gridiron, you can now get loads of information
on seating, capacity and even historical top attendance records. Now, if you
could only get access to a web browser when you're buying from a scalper....
Die Hamster! Die! [[http://www.newgrounds.com/assassin/hamster/]]
Last issue, I inflicted upon your browsers a terrible site [[http://www.hamsterdance.com]].
I know I violated a sacred trust not to infect your psyche with such insidious
horror. Today I offer you relief. Lock and load! Yeah! Get some! Get some!
