gio] [What's a gio?]
"Gio" is Steve Giovannetti. The nickname
was bestowed upon me by my friend Phillipe who used to cover Manhattan for a systems
integrator in the mid ninties. Phillipe is a very smooth operator with the looks
and mannerisms of Bill Murray. He is also endowed with a Brooklyn accent that
would put Bugs Bunny to shame. Since Giovannetti was a bit long for him to repeat
on every sales call, he immediately shortend my last name to Gio (pronounced gee-OH).
Since Phil was such a trendy guy and New York City is the kind of place where
attention span is often lacking, the name stuck. A previous nickname "Afrika"
just never seemed to have the staying power. But enough about me....
